Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Captain Nguyen Van Quyet scored twice to help Vietnam All Stars come from behind to beat Manchester Reds 3-2 in their second leg match on June 30 in Hanoi.
Manchester Reds, a team made up of some former Manchester United players, showed their experience with two goals early in the first half.
Nata Souza opened the score with a straight finish in the box on six minutes and five minutes later, Marc Fuller doubled their lead with an easy finish to pounce on goalkeeper Duong Hong Son's mistake in the heavy rain.
The hosts began to push up and had many chances.
On 21 minutes, Quyet received a smart pass from former striker Le Huynh Duc, beating the offside trap before rounding Reds' keeper David Aziaya to score into the empty net.
Eight minutes later, the Hanoi FC captain was fouled in the penalty box and the All Stars were given a spot kick at the Hang Day Stadium.
Pham Van Quyen converted to bring the scores level.
The rain got worse in the second half and strongly affected the field. However, it was the All Stars that went ahead in the bad weather.
Aziaya, in an attempt to clear the ball, gave it to Quyet, who didn't waste his opportunity to complete a double and seal the win for the hosts.
Earlier on June 27, Manchester Reds won 4-2 over Vietnam All Stars at the Hoa Xuan Stadium in Da Nang.
The friendly football matches between the Vietnam All Stars Team and Manchester Reds were activities to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United Kingdom (September 11, 1973-2025)./.
