from now to 2015.
The October 30 meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan and Angolan Minister of Science and Technology Maria Candida Teixeira.
Reviewing the cooperation during the 2011-2013 period, both sides agreed that positive results have been made in the fields of politics-diplomacy, education-training, agriculture-rural development, industry-trade and healthcare.
Two-way trade turnover stood at 125 million USD in 2012, with Vietnam ’s export to the African country up nearly 70 percent over 2011.
The two countries have implemented several cooperation programmes in health care, science and technology, contributing to economic development in both countries.
The two sides reached a consensus in boosting all-around cooperation, particularly in creating favourable conditions for enterprises in Vietnam and Angola to seek cooperation opportunities and invest in the other country.
They will work together to conduct Portuguese teaching for Vietnamese experts, as well as send more Vietnamese educational experts to Angola at the latter’s request.
Both sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in health care, particularly in such areas as epidemic prevention, preventive medicine, traditional medicine and pharmaceuticals, as well as to increase the number of Vietnamese medical experts in Angola .
Cooperation in the fields of agriculture and aquaculture, labour and social affairs was also tabled at the meeting.
Particularly, both ministers want more cooperation in labour area, looking for the building of a recruitment and management mechanism for Vietnamese workers in Angola .
The Vietnamese side suggested holding negotiations to sign an agreement on labour, creating a legal framework for enterprises to recruit workers while ensuring the rights and interests of Vietnamese workers in Angola.
The next Vietnam-Angola inter-governmental meeting is slated for 2015 in Angola ’s capital of Luanda.-VNA
