Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has proposed raising the number of players in each team of the men’s football at the coming 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) to 23, according to VFF Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan.
He made the suggestion at a recent meeting of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) which was held in Laos.
Under the regulations of the AFF and the Southeast Asian Games Federation, each team can register only 20 players in its official list and 30 in the preliminary one.
The VFF also asked to have 40 players named in the preliminary list, Tuan added.
At the end of the meeting, football bodies of the regional countries were asked to submit the idea to the 30th SEA Games organising board via their respective Olympic committees to realise the proposal.
At the previous Games, male footballers had a tight schedule as they played a match every two day and teams qualifying for the final had to play seven matches in just half a month.
The 30th SEA Games is scheduled to be held in the Philippines from November 30 to December 12, with a total of 523 events of 56 sports.-VNA
