Vietnam, Australia agree to lift ties

Vietnam and Australia agreed to build a joint action plan for their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Australian counterpart TonyAbbott have agreed to build a joint action plan for realising thedeclaration on strengthening the Vietnam-Australia ComprehensiveStrategic Partnership in the 2015-17 period.

Thetwo PMs had a telephone conversation on April 1, during which theyconcurred to assign the two Foreign Ministries to coordinate with oneanother in implementing the outcomes of PM Dung’s visit to Australiaon March 17-18.

The Vietnamese PM thankedAustralia for its warm welcome during his visit. He reiterated hisproposal that Australia complete all procedures to allow Vietnameseagricultural products to be imported to Australia.

He suggested Australia set up an agency in Vietnam for inspectingfood before export to Australia to ensure quality.

The Australian PM agreed with his counterpart’s proposal, reaffirminghis wish to enhance bilateral trade and investment partnership.

He said he will direct Australian authorised agencies to realise Vietnam’s suggestion.

The Australian PM also said he hopes more Vietnamese farm produce would be sold in the Australian market in the coming time.-VNA
