– DeputyForeign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed Rudolf Huygelen, Director of theBelgian Minister of Foreign Affairs’ cabinet in Hanoi on April 4.

Lauding Vietnam’sachievements in socio-economic development, the Belgian official pledged tocontinue supporting Vietnam even after the end of the two countries’cooperation programme.

Deputy Foreign MinisterSon said the Dinh Vu – Deep C industrial park in Hai Phong, a Belgian-fundedproject in Vietnam, is marking 20 years of operation.

He asked Belgium toreplicate the successful model as part of the European country’s commitment to along-term partnership with Vietnam.

Son noted Vietnamappreciates support from the Belgian Government’s development programme andwelcomes the Belgian Embassy to hold the Innovation Days event at the end of2017 in celebration of 40 years of cooperation with Vietnam.  

Reviewing bilateralcooperation, both host and guest agreed to improve local business climates andfacilitate access to their respective markets.

They also agreed to worktogether to organise cultural and economic events to mark the upcoming 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Belgium.

As part of his two-dayvisit to Vietnam on April 4 and 5, Rudolf Huygelen was scheduled to work with theForeign Ministry’s Europe, international organisations, ASEAN, and consular departments. He also attended a ceremony marking20-years of the Dinh Vu – Deep C industrial park.-VNA

NA passes amended laws on corporate income tax, excise tax

452 lawmakers, or 94.56% of the total number of deputies present, voted in favour the revised Law on Corporate Income Tax, while the amended Excise Tax Law was adopted with 448 out of 454 deputies present voting in favour, accounting for 93.72% of the total.

The Vietnamese leader proposed Uppsala University establish a partnership with a national university in Vietnam; strengthen collaboration in education, research, and academic exchanges with Vietnamese institutions; and offer scholarships to Vietnamese students and researchers, thus advancing the newly established sectoral strategic partnership in science, technology, and innovation between the two countries.
