Mexico City (VNA) –
Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Hoai Duong paid a working visit to Zacatecas state in central Mexico on July 18-21.

At a meeting with Zacatecas Governor Alejandro Tello Cristerna, Ambassador Duong highlighted the bilateral cooperation potential in the fields of investment, trade, agriculture, education, tourism and culture.

He thanked the Zacatecas administration for its support to the acupuncture cooperation project between the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ) and Vietnam’s National Hospital of Acupuncture over the past 15 years.

The diplomat expressed his belief that the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), of which both Vietnam and Mexico are members, will help tighten the bilateral friendship and cooperation in all fields, especially economy, trade and investment, once it takes effect.

For his part, Governor Alejandro Tello affirmed that Zacatecas is willing to enhance multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnamese localities.

He praised Vietnamese acupuncture doctors for providing treatment for hundreds of thousands of patients in Zacatecas and training for UAZ students.

The official said he will visit Vietnam along with a delegation of businesses from Zacatecas to explore investment cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese localities.

During Duong’s working session with the UAZ school board, Rector Antonio Guzman Fernandez presented a letter of intend to the diplomat, demonstrating the university’s willingness to increase student exchanges with Vietnamese counterparts.

He also hailed the effective cooperation with Vietnam’s National Hospital of Acupuncture, and pledged to grant more scholarships to Vietnamese students.

The UAZ plans to offer 15 scholarships to Vietnamese students this year in the fields of law, economy, language and tourism.
