Vietnam boosts cooperation with Western Australian

Vietnam’s Consulate General in Perth and the West Australian Vietnam Business Council (WAVBC) on July 13 held a workshop to promote multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and the Western Australian State, especially in the field of business.

Perth (VNA) – Vietnam’s Consulate General in Perth and the WestAustralian Vietnam Business Council (WAVBC) on July 13 held a workshop topromote multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and the Western AustralianState, especially in the field of business.

Consul General Phung The Long said Vietnam is the 16th trade partner, the 15thexporter, and the third biggest farm produce importer of the State, adding thatthe two sides should actively explore and optimise their huge cooperationpotential.

Vo Hong Duc, Director at Australia’s national energy supervision committee andhead of the business and economic research group at the Ho Chi Minh City OpenUniversity, highlighted potential cooperative fields such as education,agriculture and consultancy.

He also pointed to difficulties that Western Australian companies shouldthoroughly study before building business and investment plans in Vietnam.

He introduced that Vietnam has a population of over 90 million people with newemerging economic zones in major cities like Hai Phong, Da Nang, Nha Trang andCan Tho, which are potential destinations for Western Australian firms.

Vo The Truyen from Australia’s vegetable growers association said Vietnam andAustralia are big suppliers of farm produce, especially fruits, therefore, thetwo sides could shake hands in this sphere.
Henoted that companies and farms in the Western Australian State have a lot ofadvantages and experience in preserving, packaging and post-harvesttechnologies and cultivation techniques, which could be transferred toVietnamese farmers

Bruno Delfante, Manager Business Migration Centre under the Small BusinessDevelopment Corporation of Australia, updated information on the policy ofattracting business immigration of the Australian government for Vietnamesebusinesses.

Consul General Long pledged to accompany and support Western Australian andVietnamese entrepreneurs with regularly provision of information.
Withthe participation of over 70 business representatives, the workshop is expectedto create positive changes in the relations between Vietnam and the WesternAustralian State.-VNA
