Vietnam bring home three martial arts medals

​Hanoi, November 22 (VNA) - Vietnam pocketed one silver and two bronze medals at the first Wushu Taolu World Cup, which ended November 20 in Fuzhou in southeast China’s Fujian province.​

Hanoi (VNA) -
Vietnam pocketed one silver and two bronze medals at the first Wushu Taolu World Cup, which ended November 20 in Fuzhou in southeast China’s Fujian province.

Duong Thuy Vi secured her second position in the women’s jianshu (straight sword) event with 9,52 points.

Li Yi of Macao topped the category winning 9.62 points from the jury. Zahra Kiani from Iran grabbed 9.49 points for a bronze medal.

Vi also took part in the qiangshu (spear) and changquan (long fist) events but was not able to enter the top three.

Vietnam’s first bronze went to Tran Xuan Hiep in the men’s gunshu (staff) with 9.62 points.

Hiep ranked behind Indonesian Achmah Hulaefi who triumphed with a 9.65-point performance, and Chinese Taipei’s Chen Ming Wang who bagged 9.63 points.

Hoang Thi Phuong Giang added the second bronze in the women’s gunshu with 9.30 points.

Hong Kong representative Liu Xuxu earned the gold with 9.53 points. Macao’s Cho Ma Sou was second at 9.52.

Giang also tried in the daoshu (sword) and changquan but her results were not good.

Vietnamese athletes also performed in taijiquan (tai chi), taijijian (tai chi sword), nandao (southern broadsword), and nangun (southern staff).-VNA
