Hong Kong (VNA) – The Vietnam Consulate General celebrated the 68th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations in Hong Kong with the participation of Commissioner of China’s Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong Xie Feng, representatives from the Government of Hong Kong, among others.
At the celebration on January 18, Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong Tran Thanh Huan reviewed the relationship, expressing his pleasure at the organization of regular visits and meetings to help spur the healthy development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Huan underscored that in many years, China has been the largest trade partner of Vietnam. Vietnam has also become the biggest trade partner of China among the ASEAN countries.
In 2017, two-way trade reached 121.3 billion USD, up 23.3 percent year on year, he noted.
At the same time, the relationship between Vietnam and China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has also been growing, especially in economy, trade and investment.
Hong Kong is now the sixth largest trade partner of Vietnam with 1,257 projects worth 17.6 billion USD.
Huan also expressed his belief that the ties between Vietnam and China will continue to thrive, benefiting people of both countries and contributing to peace and stability in the region.
For his part, Xie Feng said that the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, having overcome ups and downs, has been expanded. In recent years, with joint efforts of both sides, the bilateral ties have grown practically, bringing interest for the people of both sides, promoting the prosperity of each country, and contributing to peace, stability in the region and the world, he said.-VNA
