Vietnam and China held the first ministerial-level session of the working group on land infrastructure cooperation in Beijing on October 15 to seek more practical and effective cooperation mechanisms in the field.

Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, head of the Vietnamese delegation, and Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, head of the Chinese delegation, co-chaired the event.

The function drew representatives from the two countries’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Finance, Government Offices, and the Vietnamese Embassy in China.

The two sides discussed the feasibility of some transport projects, including the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong standard railway, as well as cooperation in non-renewable energy, which aims to enrich the bilateral economic ties and guarantee mutual benefits in a stable and equal manner.

The Governments of Vietnam and China agreed to establish the working groups on land infrastructure, monetary and marine cooperation in late 2013 during the visit to Vietnam by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang with a view to furthering the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

During the working visit to China, the Vietnamese delegation met with Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng and President of the Import-Export Bank of China Hu Xiaolian.

The Vietnamese officials also visited Wuhan city in Hubei province to promote trade and investment collaboration between the two countries and localities.-VNA
