Vietnam, China to conduct joint patrol in Tonkin Gulf

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy and the Vietnam People’s Navy will conduct a joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin in December, announced spokesperson of the National Defence Ministry of China Wu Qian.

Beijing (VNA) – The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy and the VietnamPeople’s Navy will conduct a joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin in December,announced spokesperson of the National Defence Ministry of China Wu Qian.

Speakingat the regular press conference of the National Defence Ministry of China onNovember 30, Wu said the two sides will launch communication and joint rescue drillsduring the patrol.

Thespokesperson also reiterated that China highly values military relations withVietnam and is willing to maintain stability and order in the Gulf of Tonkinand the shared fishing waters, as well as develop healthy and stable bilateralmilitary cooperation.

Thepatrol will be the 23rd of its kind between the two countries’ navies in the Gulfof Tonkin, in line with the bilateral agreement on conducting joint patrol inthe shared fishing area in the gulf twice a year.-VNA
