CanTho (VNA) – The Vietnam-China trade exchange programme opened in Can Tho city on April 21, with 150 Mekong Delta and 13 Chinesefirms taking part.

Theevent enables agro-forestry-fisheries suppliers to boost exports and meetwith export-import and logistics companies of China’s Yunnan province. It isalso meant to realise a memorandum of understanding on trade cooperation between the Lao Cai provincial Department of Industry and Trade and the trade bureau of Yunnanprovince signed in China’s Hekou district in January 2023.

Directorof the Lao Cai department Hoang Chi Hien said despiteCOVID-19 last year, the total export-import value at Vietnam's border gates stillsurpassed 2.2 billion USD, with nearly 800,000 tonnes of farm produce passingthrough Lao Cai border gate.

Export-import goods through Lao Cai-Hekou internationalborder gate are complementary to each other, with Vietnam exporting farmproduce, fruits, and seafood while importing fertilizers, chemicals, and cokingcoal from China to serve domestic production.

Hien said the event also affords Yunnan firms a chanceto evaluate the potential of farm produce production in Can Tho and adjacentlocalities via fact-finding trips and working sessions with local businesses and production facilities./.

The price of E5 RON92 petrol is now capped at 19,462 VND (0.75 USD) per litre, up 199 VND from the previous adjustment, while RON95-III costs no more than 19,967 VND per litre, up 269 VND.
