Vietnam has to date found no radiation contamination in food imported from Japan , the Ministry of Health’s Food Safety and Hygiene Department said on April 18.
The confirmation was made after testing 41 samples of imported food from Japan , the department said, adding that it will continue to keep an eye on food imported from Japan and provide timely information to consumers.
After a nuclear crisis began in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami, Vietnam stepped up radiation testing on food and foodstuffs imported from Japan and required these products to be certified for radioactive safety by Japanese authorities.
The Ministry of Health plans to provide training on diagnosis and treatment of radiation-related diseases and devise a radioactivity contamination prevention programme for the people./.
