Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is set to host the highly anticipated “Vietnam Days Abroad” programme in Brazil and Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam's global outreach.
This year's event, themed “Confluence of the quintessence of a thousand years - Rising in the new era”, celebrates the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Brazil diplomatic ties and the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations.
Now in its 12th year, the event aims to showcase Vietnam's rich cultural heritage, vibrant people and dynamic spirit to the international community. By fostering sustainable partnerships and deepening mutual understanding, trust and friendship, Vietnam Days Abroad seeks to elevate Vietnam's global profile and strengthen its bonds with nations around the world.
Scheduled for November 15-17 in Rio de Janeiro city, just ahead of the G20 Summit, the event will offer a unique platform to engage with high-ranking delegates from the world's 20 largest economies. This strategic timing ensures that Vietnam's cultural activities reach not only the Brazilian public but also a diverse international audience.
The “Vietnam Days in Brazil” promises an array of meticulously curated performances, including the mesmerising lion dance and the enchanting water puppetry shows - cultural treasures that will be introduced to Brazilian audiences for the very first time, offering a glimpse into the heart of Vietnamese tradition.
Following the Brazilian leg, the event will move to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 13-15. Here, attendees will be immersed in a vibrant cultural space that highlights Vietnam's rich heritage. Unique hands-on experiences await, such as crafting traditional to he figurines, printing Dong Ho folk paintings, and creating intricate lacquer artworks.
Adding to the cultural immersion, traditional instrumentalists will breathe life into the iconic Tu Binh (Four Female Musicians) painting series through captivating performances. This innovative approach is designed to leave a lasting impression, showcasing the depth and beauty of Vietnamese art in a way that resonates with audiences.
Culinary delights will also take centre stage, catering to the growing interest in authentic Vietnamese flavours among local audiences.
Culinary expert and Chairman of the Vocational Training and Employment Association of Chefs Nguyen Thuong Quan will serve as a “gastronomy ambassador”. He will introduce a plethora of authentic Vietnamese dishes through engaging activities, including cooking workshops, banquets, exhibition booths and live cooking demonstrations.
At a press conference on November 6, Vietnamese Ambassadors to Brazil and Saudi Arabia underlined the immense respect for, and potential for cultural cooperation with both countries. They affirmed that hosting national promotion events there is essential to nurture friendship and enhance Vietnam’s global presence.
The annual “Vietnam Days Abroad” was initiated in 2010, held under the direction of the Prime Minister and led by the MoFA’s Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO Affairs. It typically coincides with high-level official visits or diplomatic milestones between Vietnam and other countries.
Over the past years, it has cultivated a strong brand, garnering enthusiastic involvement of businesses, organisations, localities, international friends and Vietnamese communities abroad./.
