Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has asked the Ministry of Finance to refine the draft decree on horse, dog racing and international football betting, and submit it to the Government by August 15.

The draft has already been submitted to the National Assembly Standing Committee, with the Deputy PM ordering their recommendations to be implemented earnestly.

Under the draft, betting companies are not allowed to use pictures or results from international horse and dog races as a basis for a betting business in Vietnam.

Companies will be allowed to pilot international football gambling for five years.

Betting companies’ agents must also be at least 500 metres from schools and public parks for children.

The decree will regulate the hours from which bets can be taken, which businesses cannot decide.

Enterprises, which have at least five years of experience, are allowed to distribute gambling tickets through phones and other means of telecommunication.

There are no regulations for internet ticket distribution.

The Deputy PM suggested referring to the draft decree on casinos to set regulations on advertising and rules for bettors

The selection of investors to carry out projects on horse, dog racing and international football betting must abide by the Law on Investment and the Law on Bidding.

The draft Decree should make clear the responsibilities of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, especially in the management of international football gambling.-VNA
