Vietnam, France shake hands in combating corruption

Hanoi(VNA) – The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam and the French Anti-CorruptionAgency signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in preventingand fighting corruption in Hanoi on January 15.

At talks between Government Inspector General Le Minh Khai and head of theFrench Anti-Corruption Agency Charles Duchaine the same day, the two sidesshared their experience in anti-corruption as well as their plan for thefuture.

Government InspectorGeneral Le Minh Khai said that the cooperation between the two agencies aims tostrengthen their coordination to combat corruption in the principles ofequality, friendship and mutual benefit and in accordance with laws and practicesof each country as well as international law.

The MoU lays afoundation for the bilateral affiliation between the two sides, allowing themto foster coordination and the sharing of information and professionaldocuments as well as experience.

At the same time, the twosides will jointly organise forums and conferences on anti-corruption, andexchange experience in raising public awareness of fighting corruption andencourage their engagement in the work.

For his part, Duchainesaid that the deal helps bolster the sound traditional cooperation between thetwo agencies.

He stressed the needfor efforts from both sides to make the coordination effective andpractical.-VNA
