A number of gender statistics products were released at a meeting held by the United Nations in Vietnam and the General Statistics Office (GSO) in Hanoi on March 16.
The products are part of a programme on gender equality, jointly launched by the Vietnamese Government and the United Nations.
They include gender statistics manuals, statistical books on gender in Vietnam between 2000 and 2010 and the Devinfo database on children and women.
Speaking at the event, GSO Director Do Thuc and UN Population Fund Acting Chief Representative in Vietnam Mandeep K.O Brien said the products were successfully completed on the basis of cooperation between the GSO and the UN and with the support of the Millennium Development Goals Fund.
They are seen as a tool to evaluate the gender situation, women’s advancement and gender equality in all fields.
The products also fulfil demand for gender statistics from the Vietnamese Government, organisations, individuals, policymakers, technical experts and researchers, they said.-VNA
