The strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany has entered a new stage of development, Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said at a recent event in Germany.

Berlin (VNA) – The strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany hasentered a new stage of development, Vietnamese Minister of Planning and InvestmentNguyen Chi Dung said at a recent event in Germany.

Speaking at the Liebesmahl (Love Feast) on March 15 night (local time), MinisterDung spoke  highly of Germany’s supportto Vietnam over the past time as well as the role of German businesses in Vietnam’seconomic development and national construction.

The official called on German firms to step up their investment in his country,especially in the areas of Germany’s strength and Vietnam’s demand like machinery,finance, insurance, renewable energy and personnel training.

Healso appealed to German politicians and enterprises to push ahead with thesigning and ratification of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) as soonas possible in order to facilitate economic cooperation between the two countriesas well as between Vietnam and the EU at large.

In this regard, German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier saidthe content of the deal is being translated into languages of EU membercountries.

The agreement is expected to be passed ahead of the European parliamentaryelection in late this May, he said.

Before the annual feast, Dung had a meeting with the German minister as part ofhis working visit to the country. He was among 300 special guests to the event,the 99th of its kind.

While in Germany, the official had a working dinner with representatives ofVietnamese and German businesses. -VNA
