Vietnamese hand embroidered souvenirs and paintings are on display at an international seminar opened in New Delhi, India on September 17.

The seminar, aiming to promote the export of Indian handicrafts and the sharing of international experience in fine art item production and market access, has also attracted the participation of artisans from China, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan and Ireland.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Handicraft Exporters Association (Vietcraft) Le Ba Ngoc, leading the Vietnamese delegation to the event, said this is the first time Vietnam has attended the event in India, and expressed his hope that it will provide the country with an opportunity to expand its export market.

Addressing the event, India’s Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Shri S.S. Gupta, emphasised that the sector’s exports significantly contribute to his country’s economic growth.

He said that India has yet to exploit the international market as its handicraft products account for less than 2 percent of the world’s market shares.-VNA
