The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) said it will strictly check and supervise enterprises and organisations recruiting foreigners to better the management of the employees.
The move is in response to Decree No. 102/2013/ND-CP which regulates the management of foreign workers in compliance with the Labour Code.
At a conference co-organised by the Ministry and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) in Ho Chi Minh City on January 27, participating delegates underlined the need to revise current regulations in the field.
The Ministry will give detailed guidance on, while simplifying procedures for the granting of work permits to foreigners so as to meet increasing recruitment demand of foreign labourers of enterprises and organisations operating in the country.
Nguyen Thi Hai Van, head of the MoLISA’s Department of Employment reported that 76,309 foreigners were hired to work in Vietnam in 2014.
Of them, 55,200 were granted work permits, while over 15,400 others were processing paperwork to get the paper.
Foreign employees in Vietnam came from 74 countries worldwide, mostly from Asia (58 percent) and Europe (28.5 percent).-VNA
