Vietnam, Japan cooperate on energy saving

At the seminar, participants heardreports on energy-saving technologies, environmentally friendly productsand experiences of developed countries, especially the latestexperiments by Japanese companies in Vietnam .

Under amemorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Ministry ofInformation and Communications of Vietnam and the Ministry of InternalAffairs and Communications signed in September 2010, the two sidesagreed to cooperate in application of information technology inenvironmental activities and energy saving through a pilot project in2012.

The project is aimed at preventing natural disasters andenergy saving through an information and communications system andsensor network.

The results of the pilot project will provideimportant basis for an approval of official development assistance forthe expansion of the environmental monitoring and natural disasterwarning system for Vietnamese localities that may be extended to otherSoutheast Asian nations.-VNA
