The two sides exchanged views on the bilateralstrategic partnership, their respective countries’ foreign policies andsecurity-defence situation, as well as on regional and internationalissues of mutual concern.
They agreed tomaintain regular visits and contact between senior officials, furtherpromote the role and efficiency of existing dialogue mechanisms, andstep up collaboration at international and regional forums.
Both sides reached a consensus on the importance of ensuring peace,stability and development in the region, saying that maritime issuesmust be solved peacefully in line with international law, especially the1982 United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea.
The next dialogue will be held in Japan in 2015.
Later on the day, the Japanese Deputy FM was received by Deputy PrimeMinister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, who spoke highly of thesuccessful dialogue.
The Deputy PM and FM alsopraised the new developments in the bilateral relations, particularlythe elevation of bilateral ties to an Extensive Strategic Partnershipfor Peace and Prosperity in Asia during President Truong Tan Sang’sState visit to Japan in March.
Deputy MinisterShinsuke Sugiyama affirmed that Japan always treasures its relationshipwith Vietnam and will continue supporting Vietnam’s development byproviding it with official development assistance (ODA) and coordinatingin implementing important economic cooperative programmes andprojects.-VNA
