Vietnam, Japan to make Phan Boi Chau film

Vietnam Television (VTV) and Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) have consented to make a collaborative film about the renowned Vietnamese nationalist Phan Boi Chau.

It was part of a news exchange agreement signed in Hanoi on December 14 by VTV General Director Tran Binh Minh and TBS Chairman Toshichika Ishihara.

The 120-minute film depicting Phan Boi Chau’s efforts to seek ways for national independence will be filmed in Vietnam and Japan with consultation from Vietnamese historians to ensure its accuracy.

The film will be shot in the second quarter of 2013 and complete by September that year to mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan .

Phan Boi Chau is a historical figure who played an important role in establishing the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan .

Film-goers will be given a close-up look at this period in history, and better understand the friendship between the two countries, said Do Thanh Hai, Director of Vietnam Television Film Production Centre.

The cooperation will boost relations between VTV and TBS, and provide viewers in both nations with news programmes.

Under the agreement, the two television stations will establish bilateral relations to exchange news and human resource, enhancing programme quality.-VNA
