Vietnam, Laos intensify labour and social welfare ties

Participating officials informed each other on their countries’ currentpolicies and laws related to their workforces and social welfare.

Appreciating the achievements resulting from their cooperation inrecent years, they discussed measures to address problems hindering theimprovement of ties in social security, insurance and vocationaltraining, among others.

Minister of Labour, Invalidsand Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen and her Lao counterpart OnchanThammavong agreed that their inter-ministry affiliation has grown inquality and scale in line with the specific needs of each nation.

A Vietnam-Laos labour cooperation pact was signed in 2013. Vietnamhas thus far helped train a number of Lao personnel in the field andprioritised experience exchange with the neighbour.

Moving forward, the two ministers decided to intensify their worktogether and encourage provincial agencies to cooperate further.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Minister presented her agency’sinsignia to Onchan Thammavong together with 1 billion VND (46,125 USD)worth of equipment to the latter’s agency.

The 5 th meeting is scheduled to be held in Vietnam in 2017.-VNA

According to the plan, all buses operating within Ring Road 1 will use green energy by July 1, 2026. The requirement will expand to Ring Road 2 by January 1, 2028, and to Ring Road 3 by 2030.

National, local traffic safety committees to be dissolved from June 1

Under the dicision, ministries and ministerial-level agencies will assume responsibility for tasks previously performed by the committee, in line with their mandates under the Law on Government Organisation, the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, the Law on Roads and other relevant legal frameworks, ensuring that traffic safety and order are maintained without disrupiton.
