Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong DinhHue and his Lao counterpart Saysomphone Phomvihaneco-chaired a seminar in Hanoi on December 6 to share experience in legislation,supervision and deciding on the country’s important issues.
Speaking at the event, Hue said during the past tenure, the twolegislatures held eight thematic seminars, four of them were co-chaired by the toplegislators. This event would focus discussions on experience in holdingquestion & answer (Q&A) sessions at the NA’s meetings and decide on national projectssignificant to socio-economic development, he said.
Saysomphone suggested lawmakers offer straightforward opinions tohelp the two legislatures fulfill tasks in the new period.
Asked about Q&A activities in the NA’s sessions, Hue said inthe mid-year meetings, the PM often assigns the permanent Deputy PM to present reports and answer questions.While in the year-end meetings, the PM will take the floor. The Vietnamese NA usuallyspends two and a half days on questioning government members.
After collecting opinions from NA delegations, agencies, votersand the public, the NA Secretary General will hold meetings with leaders of NAorgans to discuss and choose topics for Q&A sessions, which will besubmitted to the NA Standing Committee for consideration. Later, the NASecretary General will consult with lawmakers to choose four topics under the management of four ministers. Heads of sectors will be responsible for answering atsessions, he said.
The top Lao legislator wished that both sides would continue working closelytogether to share expertise in the near future.
Hue affirmed that the Vietnamese NA is ready to share experiencewith the Lao counterpart to better perform tasks assigned by the people./.
