Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport (MoT) and the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport have inked the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on their cooperation programme, with focus on establishing an information exchange mechanism between the two sides.

The MoU was signed during talks between a delegation from the MoT led by Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tho and its Lao counterpart as part of the former’s visit to Laos on August 14-16.

Under the programme, the ministries will hold cooperation forums between Vietnamese and Lao transport and logistics businesses while investing in building and upgrading roads, border gates, bus stations and stops.

They will also make the best use of road transport activities and ensure traffic safety as well as build a plan to establish two-way goods transportation between Laos and Vietnam , simplify administrative and customs procedures, and intensify inspections.

At the talks, the two sides spoke highly of their cooperation over the past time and discussed road projects linking the two countries.

Vietnam will help the Lao side upgrade its website and train human resources to improve the efficiency of bilateral transport cooperation, thus contributing to nurturing the Vietnam-Laos special friendship.-VNA
