Da Nang (VNA) – Vietnam took the lead in the ASEAN School Games (ASG) 2024’s medal tally after six competition days, bagging 27 gold, 17 silver and seven bronze medals as of June 5.
Thailand ran behind with 11 golds, 12 silvers and 15 bronzes, followed by Malaysia with nine golds, 11 silvers and 12 bronzes.
Indonesia and Singapore completed the top five, while the Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Brunei came next in the sequence.
On June 5, the Vietnamese delegation won four golds in swimming and three golds in track and field.
Athletes continue competing at the qualifiers and finales of swimming, badminton, track and field and Pencak Silat on June 6.
The 13th ASG is being organised in the central city of Da Nang from June 1 to 7 under the theme of “Connect to Shine Bright”, drawing the participation of more than 1,300 students and coaches from 10 ASEAN countries.
The athletes are competing in six sports namely swimming, basketball, badminton, track and field, Pencak Silat and Vovinam for 107 medal sets./.
