Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnamese delegation's substantive and constructive contributions to the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) have left lasting impressions among participants.
The event wrapped up in Vientiane on October 21, under the chair of Chairman of the Lao National Assembly and AIPA-45 Chair Saysomphone Phomvihane.
The theme "The Role of Parliaments in Enhancing Connectivity and Inclusive Growth of ASEAN" of AIPA-45 highlighted the importance of parliaments in building the legal framework and policies to promote regional integration. Inclusive growth is a key goal for sustainable development and social equity, ensuring mutual benefits for all ASEAN countries. This approach reflects the trend of cooperation amid globalisation while maintaining ASEAN's central role in the region.
Earlier, heads of the AIPA member parliaments signed the joint communiqué. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Chairman of the NA Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha.
The Vietnamese delegation's active participation contributed to the overall success of the event, strengthening cooperation within AIPA and building a strong ASEAN Community. Their substantive and constructive contributions showed Vietnam's proactive, positive approach and high sense of responsibility in advancing ASEAN parliamentary cooperation for a prosperous, peaceful and sustainable future for the entire region.
AIPA-45 saw the approval of 39 resolutions, including four from the Committee on Political Matters, eight from the Committee on Economic Matters, five from the Committee on Social Matters, two from the Meeting of Women Parliamentarians of AIPA, three from the Consultative Meeting of Young Parliamentarians of AIPA, and 17 from the Organisational Committee.
Delegates from AIPA member parliaments agreed that the 46th AIPA General Assembly will be held in Malaysia in 2025./.
