Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam’s national futsal team could not surprise Japan in their friendly match in Kariya, Japan on April 22.

The side who won a berth to compete at the coming World Cup lost 0-7 to a rival that they eliminated from the Asian Championship in February.

Shibano Sota, Nibuya Kazuhiro and Shimizu Kazuya scored three goals in the first three minutes.

Coach Bruno Garcia Formoso had to call for a minute timeout to talk with his players who then created their chances after catching the pace of the game.

However, when they missed several opportunities, the Japanese side scored three more goals in the 13th, 14th and 16th minutes.

Osodo Nobuya made it 7-0 for the host in the 23rd minute of the second half.

Vietnam will have another match against Uzbekistan today.

The friendlies are part of their training course in preparation for their World Cup tournament which will be held in Colombia in September.-VNA
