Hai Phong (VNA) - TheHannara training ship, donated by the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK),has arrived at MPC Port in northern Hai Phong city, seven days after departing fromBusan, Rector of the Vietnam Maritime University (VMU), Pham Xuan Duong, saidon September 23.
The Hannara was the main training ship of theKorea Maritime and Ocean University for a long period of time and effectivelyserved navigation training in the RoK.
The vessel still has good quality and technologyand meets all the requirements for an international training ship, he said.
To be renamed VMU Viet-Han (VMU Vietnam-RoK), theHannara is capable of providing world-standard training courses to maritimestudents, officers, and sailors, especially those involved in the internship programmeof the International Maritime Organisation, which none of existing trainingships in Vietnam can do.
Transfer and reception will be carried out fromSeptember 23 to 26, Duong said, adding that this marks a historic milestone forVMU as well as Vietnam’s maritime sector, as this is the first time the countryhas possessed a modern training ship of international standard./.
