Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto expressed a wish to visit Vietnam during the APEC Summit Meeting in 2017 when receiving new Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Linh Lan on February 13.

He underscored that the Northern American country wants to move forwards ties with Vietnam, affirming that the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) will open up new opportunities for two nations to further economic and trade collaboration.

He also asserted his support for delegation exchanges during the year amid the two countries’ celebration of the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

He said he will ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to back the Vietnamese Embassy in organising celebratory activities in the host country.

Ambassador Lan affirmed that Vietnam always prioritises the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Mexico.

She expressed the hope that the two countries will be facilitated by the signing of the TPP to boost their connection not only in trade and investment but also in culture, science-technology, healthcare and training.-VNA
