Vietnam, Mozambique foster defence cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional relationshipwith Mozambique and wishes to promote multi-faceted cooperation between thenations, particularly in national defence, said a senior officer.

DeputyMinister of Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh made the statement during hismeeting with Mozambique Defence Minister Antanasio Salvador M’tumuke as part ofhis two-day visit to the country on March 27-28.

Vinh,who led a senior delegation of the Vietnam Defence Ministry to visitMozambique, briefed the Minister of the outcomes of his talks with his hostcounterpart Patricio Jose. 

Echoingthe Vietnamese officer’s opinion, M’tumuke said Mozambique has continuouslyvalued the relationship between the two nations.

Hehailed the outcomes of the talks between the two sides and expected the defencerelations will continue developing in a more practical and effective manner.

Meanwhile,Chief of the General Staff of the Mozambique Army General Graca Tomas Chonggosaid Mozambique considers Vietnam a comrade and a friend during his receptionfor the Vietnamese officers.

TheArmy and the people of Mozambique have treasured and wished to promote thefriendship between the two sides, he said.

Vinhsaid Vietnam has continuously kept in mind the support Mozambique has providedfor the nation during the struggle for liberation and reunification.

TheParty, State, people and Army of Vietnam will make more efforts to nurture andboost the traditional friendship with Mozambique, he said.

Earlier,the Vietnamese Deputy Minister had talks with his counterpart Patricio Jose.The two sides agreed that the bilateral defence cooperation has gained fruitfulachievements in recent time.

Vinhsuggested the two sides continue implementing the memorandum of understandingon defence cooperation signed in 2011 and develop a five-year plan to concretisethe cooperation fields in an effective manner.

Theyalso agreed on exchanges of high-level delegations, promoting cooperation in militarymedicine, information and communication, training, and defence industry.

Duringtheir stay, the delegation visited Movitel, a joint venture between themilitary-run group of Viettel and its partner in Mozambique.-VNA

The dispatch states that in implementing Conclusion No. 18-KL/TW dated April 2, 2026 of the 14th Party Central Committee on the 2026–2030 socio-economic development plan, national finance, public debt management and medium-term public investment, linked to the goal of achieving double-digit economic growth, the Government on April 29 issued 11 resolutions on cutting, decentralising and simplifying administrative procedures, business conditions, and conditional business lines. The Prime Minister subsequently directed ministries, agencies and localities to implement these resolutions.

Vietnamese, Angolan foreign ministers hold talks in Hanoi
