Hanoi (VNA) - A sailing ship of the Vietnam People’s Navy docked at TanjungPriok port in Jakarta on May 1, beginning a four-day visit to Indonesia thatlasts until May 4.

Aboardthe vessel, coded HQ-286 and named Le Quy Don, are naval officers, sailors andlast-year students from the Vietnam Naval Academy.

Welcomingthe Vietnamese crew at port, First Admiral Denih Hendrata, commander ofIndonesian Navy's Main Base III, Jakarta, stated Vietnam – Indonesiacooperation is growing robustly.

Hesaid it is the first visit of the sailing ship to his country and hoped thespecial event will make contribution to boosting the ties, particularlybilateral naval collaboration.

ColonelNguyen Duc Nam, Vice Director of the Vietnam Naval Academy and head of theVietnamese delegation, expressed his wish that the visit will help strengthenthe solidarity and cooperation between the two nations and their navies.

Indonesiannaval representatives then made a visit on the Le Quy Don ship, during whichthey were introduced to the ship and its activities since its launch in 2015.

Thesailing ship, which belongs to the training ship fleet of the Vietnam NavalAcademy, is 67m long and 10m wide. Designed by Poland’s Choren Design &Consulting and built by Marine Projects in 2014, the ship was launched in June1, 2015. It has a storage capacity that could supply crewmembers up to 45 daysat sea.

Thecurrent trip to Singapore – Indonesia is its third ventures outside Vietnam,following the previous visits to the Philippines – Brunei and Cambodia –Thailand.

Duringtheir stay, the Le Quy Don crewmembers will engage in a series of visits andexchanges with the Indonesian side and the Vietnamese Embassy in the country.-VNA
