Buenos Aires (VNA) - Representatives from the Trade Office of the VietnameseEmbassy in Argentina had a working session with leaders of the Coto Group toexplore opportunities for Vietnamese products to penetrate into the SouthAmerica country’s leading super-market chain.
Pham Hong Trang, head of the office, said Coto products diversifies fromhousehold appliances to handicrafts. This is seen as a golden opportunity forVietnamese goods to enter the Argentinean market with a population of more than42 million.
Once Vietnamese products are sold in Coto markets, it will help increasetwo-way trade, she said.
Meanwhile, President of Coto Group Alfredo Coto said he wanted Vietnameseproducts’ presence in his supermarkets’ shelves.
Coto is interested in such imports as household appliances, electronicproducts, handicrafts, wood furniture and coffee, he added.
Coto is a chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets, which was established inArgentina in 1987. After three decades, it is now one of the leading retailersin Argentina with over 120 operating branches and 20 others being builtnationwide.
To date, the group enjoyed a 30.1 percent retail market share in Buenos Airesand 18.3 percent in the whole country.
Vietnam-Argentinatwo-way trade has increased recently, with figure for 2017 expected to stand at3.5 billion USD.
Aline-up of promotion activities will be held in Argentina in July by theMinistry of Industry and Trade to promote Vietnamese products to Argentinianconsumers.
Opportunities are also available for Vietnamese products to reach consumers inArgentina’s neighbours such as Uruguay and Paraguay as Argentina is currentlya member of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
In addition, a line-up of cooperation mechanisms have been set up betweenVietnam and Argentina, which facilitate business and investment activitiesbetween the two sides.-VNA
