Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has been promoted to Davis Cup, Asia/Oceania Zone Group II in 2019.

The Vietnamese team defeated Qatar 3-0 in the play-off match of Davis Cup, Asia/Oceania Zone Group III, which took place on April 7.

Both Trinh Linh Giang and Ly Hoang Nam won 2-0 against their rivals in the two men’s singles matches. In the men’s doubles, Pham Minh Tuan and Le Quoc Khanh secured their victory after two sets.

[Vietnam secure second win at Davis Cup]

Before the game, Vietnam topped Group A with three wins against Pacific Oceania, Cambodia and Malaysia. Qatar was the runners-up of Group B with two wins and one loss. 

Kuwait has also been promoted to Group II alongside Vietnam after beating Malaysia 2-0.-VNA

Vietnam ready to take on India at Asian Cup

India will be the first challenge to overcome for Vietnam in Group C of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup on March 4 in Australia, which takes place during the team's second World Cup campaign.
