Vietnam reinstates pre-pandemic entry and exit procedures

The Vietnamese Government has agreed to reinstate pre-pandemic entry and exit procedures for foreigners and Vietnamese living overseas from March 15.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnamese Government has agreed to reinstatepre-pandemic entry and exit procedures for foreigners and Vietnamese livingoverseas from March 15.

In a notice,Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said the procedures would beresumed to the level before COVID-19 restrictions were introduced in early2020, based on the Law on Entry into, Exit from, Transit through, and Residencein Vietnam.

The Deputy PMalso asked the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs andother related agencies to implement the government's Resolution No.32/NQ-CP (issued earliertoday) on visa exemption for citizens from 13 countries, namely Germany,France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Russia, Japan, the Republicof Korea, Norway, Finland, Belarus, and Sweden.

The Ministryof Foreign Affairs shall assume the prime responsibility for and coordinatewith ministries and agencies in formulating immigration policies with partnerswithin the framework of bilateral and multilateral relations.

It will alsocontinue to negotiate with other countries on the recognition of each other’sCOVID-19 vaccine passports, facilitating Vietnamesecitizens travelling abroad; promote guidelines for theapplication of vaccine passports by foreigners in Vietnam; and notify relevantcountries/territories about the change in Vietnam’s immigration policy.

The Ministryof Health shall provide guidance on medical conditions for people entering thecountry in accordance with the new situation.

The Ministryof Public Security will strengthen the residence management for foreignersentering according to regulations and pandemic prevention and control measures.

It is expectedthat further details on the resumption of procedures will be made availablesoon, as today marks the date Vietnam fully reopens international tourism./.
