Vietnam-RoK diplomatic ties anniversary marked in Thai Nguyen

Thai Nguyen (VNA) – Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended aceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of  the establishment of Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) diplomatic ties on December 6 evening in thenorthern province of Thai Nguyen.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee Trinh Viet Hung said that in recent years, Thai Nguyen has become one of the"production bases" for big investors from the RoK such as: SamsungGroup, Dongwha Group, and Hansol Electronics Company. Notably, Samsung investedits first project in Vietnam in this province, with the investment licencegranted on March 19, 2013 and the capital of 2 billion USD. To date, the group has poured 7.53 billion USD into Thai Nguyen, contributingimportantly to its socio-economic development.

This year, the locality’s state budget revenue is estimatedat 18.54 trillion VND (772.5 million USD), nearly 4 trillion VND higher thanthe plan assigned by the Government, in which Korean firms’ contribution in thefirst 11 months accounted for 36% of the total.

Based on the fine relationship between Vietnam and the RoK,Thai Nguyen and Gyeongsangbuk province have engaged in a friendly cooperation since 2005,and achieved a lot of good results.

On this occasion, Vice President Xuan, under the authorisation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, granted a Friendship Order to Lee Byeong-kuk, Director-Generalof Samsung Electronics Vietnam - Thai Nguyen, in recognition of his contributionsto the province’s development in particular and the two countries’ relations ingeneral./.
