Hanoi (VNA) - Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies in some countries shared new trends for Vietnamese businesses to enhance economic cooperation with host countries during a conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 10.

Advantages of Vietnam's agricultural products as well as export opportunities for Vietnamese goods to big and potential markets were spotlighted at the event.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Nguyen Trung Kien said that many Vietnamese businesses have taken advantage of opportunities and benefits brought by the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) on tariff and control conditions for bringing goods into Europe.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long said  the UK is promoting trade cooperation with many other markets after leaving the EU, especially emerging markets, in order to help its products become more popular and competitive.

This is the UK's purpose, but also an opportunity for its partners like Vietnam. As the UK strengthens its cooperation with new markets like Vietnam, it will also open doors to products from the markets, he noted.

He stressed the need for Vietnamese businesses to ensure the quality of goods as they want to increase cooperation and expand exports to the UK, because this is one of the choosy markets.

According to the ambassador, agriculture is the most potential sector of Vietnam in the UK market, especially high-quality agriculture, towards the high-value-added market segment.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Nguyen Thanh Vinh said that the demand for consumer goods of Algerians is enormous, while the country’s domestic production capacity is limited.

The Algerian government is changing its economic development strategy in the direction of reducing dependence on oil exports and attracting foreign investment, he said, adding that this is an opportunity for Vietnamese producers inthe  areas of agriculture and consumer goods.

He noted that Vietnamese enterprises, especially those that have just entered the market, want to cooperate with Algerian businesses as well as other African countries, need to choose reputable and goodwill partners, and can ask for support from the embassy and trade office in the country./.
