Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on June 8 extended condolences to President of Myanmar Htin Kyaw over a military aircraft crash on June 7.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh cabled a message of condolence to State Counselor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi.

A military aircraft vanished shortly after taking off from the coastal town of Myeik on a flight to Yangon on June 7, carrying 116 people, including 105 passengers and 11 crew members; 15 among them were children.

It lost contact when it was about 32 kilometres west of the town of Dawei.

Wreckage of the military plane was found on June 8 morning.

According to a military source, bad weather might be the cause of the accident. But, the exact cause can only be confirmed once the aircraft’s black box is recovered.

Rescuers found more dead bodies on June 8 during the search for the plane.
