Vietnam continues to cooperate with Thailand in promoting the implementation of ASEAN’s goals in building a strong ASEAN community for people in the region, said Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong.

She also affirmed the country’s priority in increasing friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Thailand while meeting with Pikulkeaw Krairiksh, Head of the Thai Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee, in Hanoi on August 20.

Vice Chairwoman Phong expressed her pleasure at the development of the two legislative bodies’ cooperation, saying that they exchanged regular visits of delegations in order to further strengthen cooperation between the two national assemblies and contribute to the two countries’ ties.

She hailed Thailand’s success in hosting the 30 th session of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-30), hoping that the Thai parliament would share its experience and support the Vietnamese National Assembly to organise the next AIPA meeting in Hanoi and increase cooperation with Vietnam at multilateral forums.

The Vice Chairwoman asked the two legislative bodies to continue to support and promote economic cooperation, trade and investment, thus contributing to the development of Vietnam-Thailand relations.

She took this opportunity to convey NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong’s invitation to the speakers of the Thai Senate and Lower House to attend the AIPA-31 scheduled for Hanoi in September.

Pikulkeaw Krairiksh expressed her admiration at Vietnam ’s rapid dynamic development, stressing solidarity and consensus were the great driving force of national construction and development.

She emphasised the need to boost exchange programmes and cooperation between the two legislative bodies and said her committee would spare no effort to make contributions to promoting relations between the two parliaments and two countries./.
