Vietnam won a bid in Quezon city on September 17 for selling 450,000 tonnes of rice to the Philippines, according to the Manila Bulletin.
The National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines concluded the bidding for the importation of 750,000 tonnes of rice, including 250,000 tonnes of well-milled rice for this year and 500,000 tonnes of the same variety for 2016.
Vietnam’s rice price was offered at 426.6 USD.
Meanwhile, Thailand also agreed to sell 300,000 tonnes for the price equaling Vietnam’s offer.
The first set of rice imports, or the 125,000 tonnes, will be delivered in November, while the next 125,000 tonnes is due for delivery by the end of December.
The next year’s shipments will be brought to the country by January, February and March.-VNA
