Vietnam welcomed more than 610,000 foreign visitors in April, representing a year-on-year decrease of 2.4 percent, according to the General Statistics Office.
The figure brought the total number of foreign arrivals to the country to more than 2.4 million in the first four months, the Office said.
Of the total, 1.5 million arrived in the country for holiday, down 3.8 percent; 407,000 for business purposes, down 5.4 percent, and 401,000 for visiting relatives, down 9.1 percent and 120,000 for other purposes.
Vietnam’s major tourism markets saw impressive growth, including Russia , up 51 percent, Thailand, 32.5 percent, Indonesia, 26.4 percent, New Zealand, up 20.9 percent and Malaysia, 7.1 percent.
Of the total foreign travellers to Vietnam, 545,500 visitors came from China, 280,000 from the Republic of Korea, 205,000 from Japan, 165,000 from the US and 119,000 from Russia.-VNA
