A 13-strong Vietnamese team brought home seven medallions of excellence at the 41 st WorldSkills Competition 2011 held in London from October 5-8.
With this result, Vietnam ranked 23 among 48 participating countries and territories, said Duong Duc Lan, Deputy Director of the Vocational Training General Department under the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
He added that the medallion of excellence is granted to those who score above 500 points out of maximum 600 points.
The average point of Vietnamese competitors war approximate 500, as compared to the leading the Republic of Korea delegation with an average point of 530, and second-place China , with 524 points.
The WorldSkills London 2011 attracted over 1,000 competitors aged between 17-22 from all over the world to show off their prowess in 46 professionals ranging from bricklaying and cooking to web and graphic design. The Vietnamese team competed in 12 professionals at the event.
Vietnam took part in the WorldSkills Competition in Japan in 2007 and in Canada in 2009./.
