Phan Thi Ha Thanh brought the first-ever vault gold medal to Vietnam with 14,700 points at the fifth Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Putian, China, on November 13.

She was followed by two gymnasts from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

In previous tourney, Thanh only entered the finals and finished fifth. She was also the first Vietnamese winning a bronze medal in the world championships in 2011.

One day earlier, the men's team finished fifth at the event.

Vietnamese gymnasts, including representative from the London Olympics Pham Phuoc Hung and 2012 Asian Junior Championship vault silver medallist Le Thanh Tung, participated in six categories.
They got a total score of 339.85, with most points being gained in the vault (62.5), and were ranked second after China in the parallel bars event (with 60.95).

The hosts consolidated their position as first in the world by winning the gold medal with 361.5 points, followed by Japan (346.6 points) and the DPRK (346.5 points). /.
