A delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union, led by its President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, arrived in the Lao capital of Vientiane on July 13, beginning an official visit to the country.
During its stay, the delegation worked with the Lao Women’s Union and the two sides informed each other of their activities and their preparations for the up-coming women’s national congress.
They also shared experiences in poverty reduction and the fight against cross-border trafficking of women and children as well as building houses and establishing a credit fund for poor women.
The two delegations pledged to strengthen cooperation in information exchange and personnel training for female officials.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Women’s Union presented 30 computer systems and some printers to the Lao Women’s Union .
The Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to work with women’s unions in Savannakhet province and Vientiane city and visit the Lao General Secretary-cum-State President Choummaly Sayasone./.
