Hanoi (VNA) –The Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC) has been officially launched by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) and the AustralianDepartment of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), becoming a milestone inthe Vietnam-Australia strategic partnership.
According to theAustralian Embassy in Vietnam, the establishment of the centre is in implementation of an agreement signed by the Prime Ministersof the two countries in August 2019.
The Hanoi-based centreaims to help Vietnam access Australia’s knowledge, skills and expertise,experience in training and scientific research, thereby strengthening mutualunderstanding and deepening the fruitful partnership relationshipbetween the two countries.
The VAC, to be jointly operated by the HCMAand the DFAT through the Aus4Skills Programme, also focuses on improving thecapacity of Vietnamese leaders and managers to meet the requirements ofintegration and development of the country, and contributing to beefing up theclose, positive and sustainable Vietnam-Australia cooperation relationship.
Earlier on June 8, the HCMA and DFAT signedan agreement on cooperation in implementing a project on establishing andbuilding capacity of the VAC./.
Vietnam-Australia trade surges 32 percent in Q1
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Australia is growing strongly, reaching 1.38 billion USD in the first quarter of 2022, a surge of 32.36 percent against the same period last year, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
