Moscow (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia and Azerbaijan Dang Minh Khoi on February 7 presented his credentials to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who affirmed that the bilateral relations are developing well in both bilateral and multilateral aspects. President Aliyev said that the two countries hold much potential in cooperation in trade, education and tourism.
Their collaboration at the United Nations (UN) when Vietnam assumed the role of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 term and Azerbaijan as the Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement in the 2019-2022 tenure contributed to the world’s stability, he stated.
The leader also expressed his wish that Ambassador Khoi will fulfil his tasks to contribute to boosting the two countries’s friendship and multi-faceted cooperation.
Khoi affirmed that Vietnam always bears in mind the Azerbaijani people’s support, including late President Heydar Aliyev’s important contributions to the development of the bilateral relations.
Highlighting the positive developments of the bilateral ties over the past times, he highlighted that the two nations celebrated the 30th founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2022 with various activities. Two-way trade hit 702.5 million USD last year, an 8.3-fold increase compared to that of 2021.
The ambassador proposed measures to further expand bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, trade, transport and logistics, and oil and gas exploration and exploitation.
Khoi then had working sessions with various other officials of the host country, discussing orientations and measures to strengthen cooperation in various fields, with focus on economics, trade and investment, particularly through the organisation of the third meeting of the intergovernmental committee./.
