Vietnamese theatre directors Anh Tu and Si Tien from the Youth Theatre are joining with their colleagues from around the world in the International Children Theatre festival in the Israeli capital city of Tel Aviv .

The six-day festival, opened on November 19, will see 20 performances engaged in such art genres as water puppetry, theatre and contemporary dance. It is expected to produce joint art programmes for children.

Anh Tu and Si Tien have directed a lot of works for children under an international cooperation project entitled “Voice of Children” from 2007 to 2009, which were put on stage free of charge for Vietnamese children.

Earlier, the Director of Youth Theatre, Truong Nhuan and other artists from the theatre went to New Delhi for an international event meant for the disabled.

The event, from November 8-11, lured over 100 artists with disabilities from 20 countries and territories worldwide.

Artist Dao Ke Doan and Pham Viet Vuong, a student of Xa Dan secondary school – the school for children with disabilities, staged three pantomime performances which deeply impressed foreign audiences.

On the occasion, the Youth Theatre signed with the organising board a memorandum of understanding on art education for handicapped children to help them integrate into society.-VNA
