A thematic exhibition featuring the quintessence of Vietnamese Buddhist antiques got underway in the central city of Da Nang on August 16.

Held by the Municipal Museum and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha branch in the city, the exhibition introduces nearly 150 artifacts dating back to the seventh and eighth centuries and others belonging to the 19 th and early 20 th centuries, including paintings, statues, Buddhist woodblocks, worshipping wares and musical instruments.

The exhibits, which hold historical, scientific and aesthetic values, are from private collectors and pagodas in the city.

The exhibition, the first of its kind in Da Nang city, aims to show visitors the specific characteristics and values of the Vietnamese Buddhist cultural heritage, thus contributing to preserving, honouring and promoting the national culture.

The event will last for one month.-VNA
