Lao Cai (VNA) – The border guard forces of Vietnam and China on April 11 conducted for the first time a joint patrol at provincial level along the shared border line in the Lao Cai-Hekou International Border Gate area.

In recent times, the Lao Cai province’s border guard and the Mengzi border guard, China’s Yunnan province, have cooperated in managing and protecting the border line.

The border guard high commands of both sides decided to expand the patrolled area in the border area of the Red River and Nam Thi River, from Border Marker 99 to 104.

Both border guard forces have worked to provide people living along the border lines and organisations and individuals operating in the border area with related legal documents.

After the joint patrol, they reached consensus on joint patrol plans for the second quarter of this year, and agreed to promote the fight against cross-border smuggling and illegal immigration.

In addition, they will keep in touch to inform each other of border management and tackle relevant issues in a timely manner.-VNA
